The Wednesday, March 25 episode of General Hospital didn’t just move the plot forward. It ripped through five different storylines simultaneously, facilitated two exits — one temporary, one permanent — and delivered a string of performances so raw that fans are already calling it the best episode of 2026.
Here’s everything that happened — and why every scene hit harder than the last.
Rocco’s Confession: “I Ѕhоt Him to Protect Jason”

At Lulu’s home, Rocco finally broke. Through tears, the teenager explained to his mother exactly what happened on Pier 55: he ѕhоt Cullum to save Jason’s life. That’s how he injured his hand.
Lulu’s first instinct wasn’t comfort — it was damage control. She demanded to know if anyone saw him. Rocco swore that neither Cullum nor Britt knew he was there. And Lulu made the decision that will define the next chapter of this story:
“No one can know about this.”
Rocco, still in tears, promised not to tell a soul. And Lulu offered words that sounded less like a mother’s reassurance and more like a warning: “I’ll take care of everything.”
Finn Carr delivered one of the most heartbreaking confessions GH has seen in years. This isn’t a kid who feels relieved. This is a kid who just handed his secret — and his future — to someone else.
One Life Saved, One Life Lost

The dual operating room sequences were surgical in more ways than one. In one room, Lucas successfully extracted the bullet from Cullum’s back, saving the WSB director’s life. In the other, Isaiah and Elizabeth kept finding more stab wounds, more internal damage, more reasons why Marco wasn’t going to make it.
After finishing surgery on Cullum, Lucas tried calling Marco. Voicemail. Then Elizabeth intercepted him near the hospital elevators with three words no one wants to hear: “I need to talk to you.”
Marco was ԁеаd. Stаbbеd multiple times. Gone before Lucas even knew he was in danger.
The scene where Lucas says goodbye to Marco’s body was devastating — made infinitely worse by the fact that Lucas doesn’t yet know that the man he just saved in the OR is the man who kіllеd his boyfriend.
Van Hansis was extraordinary here. The grief wasn’t performed — it was lived.
Jason’s Last Stand at the PCPD

At the PCPD, Jason refused to say a word to Dante. Alexis arrived as his lawyer, spoke with him privately, and informed him that Marco had been stаbbеd on the floor of her law offices.
Then came the request that revealed just how final Jason believes this situation is: he asked Alexis to become Danny’s legal guardian. She agreed without hesitation.

But before any legal strategy could form, Jack Brennan arrived with a squad of WSB agents. Cullum had survived surgery. Jason was being charged with attempted murdеr of an international agent — classified as an international incident. The WSB supersedes the PCPD.
Jason was shackled, walked out of the station, and loaded into a waiting van.
Sidwell’s Promise and Lucas’s Refusal to Grieve

At Wyndemere, Sidwell and Ava were interrupted by Chase, who arrived to inform Sidwell about Marco and ask if he knew anyone who would want to hurt his son.
By the time Sidwell reached the hospital, Dr. Gannon delivered the news: Marco was gone. Sidwell sat beside his son’s body and, with a mix of anguish, rage, and heartbreak that Carlo Rota played to perfection, made a promise: he would make Sonny suffer — for both Marco and Natalia.
Meanwhile, Ava found Lucas outside the hospital. He couldn’t talk about it. “If I talk about Marco being ԁеаd,” he told her, “then it becomes real. And I’m not ready for that.” Then he broke down in his aunt’s arms.
The Goodbye That Destroyed Everyone Watching

The final sequence belonged to Kelly Thiebaud.
A heartbroken Britt arrived at the PCPD just as Jason was being led out in shackles. In a performance that had viewers in tears, she told him she loved him. Jason — knowing this might be the last time — told her he loved her too.
Then Danny showed up. And the final image of the episode was a teenager watching a van carry his father away, not knowing if he’d ever see him again.
Steve Burton wrapped filming on February 6 and is expected to return this summer. But the question now is whether the story continues while he’s gone — whether Valentin and Carly’s efforts to exonerate Jason play out off-screen, or whether the real payoff waits until Burton walks back through those studio doors.
The Performances That Made This Episode Historic
This wasn’t just a good episode. This was an ensemble showcase:
- Finn Carr (Rocco) — the confession scene was devastating in its simplicity
- Van Hansis (Lucas) — saying goodbye to Marco’s body while not knowing who took him was unbearable
- Carlo Rota (Sidwell) — rage and grief in equal measure, promising revenge over his son’s body
- Kelly Thiebaud (Britt) — the “I love you” at the van was the emotional climax of the entire episode
- Asher Antonyzyn (Danny) — standing alone, watching the van drive away, carrying every ounce of a child’s helplessness
- Steve Burton (Jason) — silent, stoic, and utterly heartbreaking in his refusal to break character even in his final scene
One episode. Two exits. Five performances. And a cover-up that’s only just beginning.
