They slept together. They acknowledged it meant something. And then Carly shut it down — because the mission matters more than whatever is building between them. But Valentin’s portrayer just told fans his character is “strangely obsessed” with Carly. That’s not the language of a man who’s done.

The March 17 episode gave GH fans the breakup nobody wanted but everyone expected. Valentin waited for Carly in her dark kitchen. He asked her directly: was their night together a beginning or an ending?
Carly’s answer was clinical. Lines got blurred. They don’t need the distraction. Mission first. And Valentin accepted it — on the surface.
But then he told her something that stopped the conversation cold: Jason had decided not to end him. Which means Valentin gets to stay alive and help Carly take down Jack Brennan after all. “He seems to trust me with you,” Valentin said. And they moved closer.
James Patrick Stuart: “Strangely Obsessed”
Here’s where it gets interesting. In a new Soap Opera Digest exclusive, James Patrick Stuart opened up about Valentin’s feelings — and the word he used wasn’t “attracted.” It wasn’t “interested.” He called Valentin “strangely obsessed” with Carly.
Stuart praised Laura Wright’s approach to their love scene, saying she made the encounter “thoughtful” rather than just physical. “You guys really got a lot of emotion going,” he reflected. “And not much was happening. It was just two people kissing each other.”

The actor also teased what’s coming: a “come to Jesus moment” where Brennan discovers what’s been happening between Carly and Valentin. Stuart grinned talking about it. “Who’s going to say what to whom?”
The Sonny-Josslyn Collision
Meanwhile, the same episode delivered another explosion. Sonny stopped by to check on Carly after Jason’s departure, and Josslyn walked in to find them together. She’d already had a massive fight with her mother about Sonny — and seeing him in Carly’s kitchen was the final straw.
Josslyn declared she doesn’t respect her mother’s decisions. She told both Carly and Sonny that the choices Carly keeps making are affecting her children. Then she stormed out.
Later, at the Brown Dog Bar, Josslyn ran into Cullum — and had to pretend she didn’t know him in front of Trina. The walls are closing in on every side of the Carly-Valentin situation.
Where This Goes Next

Stuart confirmed that Valentin and Carly are trying to keep their hands off each other and focus on the Brennan takedown. But he also revealed that the Cullum-Sidwell connection — a WSB director secretly partnering with a crime lord — has created “a new opportunity that is actually bigger than the one he thought there was.”
Translation: Valentin isn’t just fighting for his freedom anymore. He’s found something worth fighting for that he didn’t expect to find. And based on Stuart’s interview, the fans who thought Carly-Valentin was a one-night fling should reconsider.
