General Hospital is heading into a major casting transition — and the emotions behind the scenes are just as dramatic as what’s happening on screen.
On one side, Kelly Thiebaud (Britt Westbourne) has publicly expressed disappointment about her storyline timeline. On the other, Carson Boatman — fresh off his Days of Our Lives exit — has openly declared his interest in joining Port Charles. Together, these developments signal a GH that’s actively reshaping its roster heading into summer.
Kelly Thiebaud: “I Was Let Down”

During her guest appearance on Maurice Benard’s “State of Mind” podcast, Thiebaud didn’t hold back about her reaction to Steve Burton’s hiatus announcement.
She was “taken aback” by the news and even confronted Burton directly. While she acknowledged understanding his reasons for taking a break, her frustration was clear: “It’s just been really hard.”
Thiebaud believed Jason and Britt would have more time together on screen. Their romantic reunion was just gaining traction — and now both characters appear set to exit Port Charles together, with a return expected around July.

The deeper question: is Thiebaud’s disappointment about the general timeline, or is it a hint that Britt’s own departure might be longer than expected? If Kelly knows something fans don’t about Britt’s future on canvas, her emotional response makes even more sense.
Carson Boatman: “I’d Love a Jump to GH”

Meanwhile, a familiar face from Peacock’s daytime lineup has his eye on ABC. Carson Boatman, who played Johnny DiMera on Days of Our Lives since 2021, was among four cast members let go from the show and isn’t wasting any time looking ahead.
In a new interview with Soap Hub, Boatman was direct: “I would love a jump to GH as well. I’m absolutely open to seeing what life is like in Port Charles.”
He was equally gracious about his DAYS tenure: “I will forever be grateful for the time that I got to spend on Days of Our Lives. It truly is a special place.”
What Role Could Boatman Play?

This is where fan speculation gets exciting. Boatman is a strong actor with leading-man energy, and several GH roles could suit him perfectly:
- A Quartermaine newcomer — the family tree always has room for another branch
- A new love interest for one of GH’s leading ladies
- A recast of an existing character requiring fresh energy
- A completely new villain or anti-hero to shake things up post-Cullum
Boatman also brings crossover appeal — his DAYS fanbase would follow him to GH, potentially boosting viewership at a time when ABC needs it most.
GH’s Summer Reset
Between Burton’s hiatus, Thiebaud’s potential departure, Adrian Anchondo’s exit (Marco), and the possibility of new additions like Boatman, GH is clearly positioning for a major summer roster refresh.
The show typically uses the May-July window to cycle characters and set up fall storylines. If Boatman joins during that period, he could debut right as Jason and Britt return — creating instant new dynamics.
