General Hospital: Steve Burton Reveals Two Shocking Ways Jason’s Arrest Could End!

Steve Burton has officially confirmed his break from General Hospital — and Jason Morgan’s dramatic van exit last week was the final scene. But the actor just dropped major hints about how and when Jason could return, and fans need to hear this!

Burton Confirms: “We’re Done”

On the latest episode of his podcast with Bradford Anderson, Burton revealed he initially thought his episodes might trickle into April. However, fans watching last week quickly confirmed the truth — Jason was taken away in a van, and that was it. “That’s it,” Burton confirmed with a nod. “We’re done.”

The good news? Burton has already confirmed he and Jason will be back onscreen this summer. But what Port Charles looks like when Jason returns could be wildly different from what anyone expects.

Path One: The Fugitive

Burton openly mused about one intense scenario the writers seem to be setting up: Jason as a fugitive. With Carly already begging Valentin to help stage a breakout from WSB custody, the groundwork for a daring escape is clearly being laid. Burton feels confident that Valentin would help if he could, noting a strong mutual respect between the two characters.

“I think there’s a mutual respect there to some degree,” Burton reflected. “We’ve had enough interactions where I know what he’s capable of. And he probably knows what I’m capable of, and then you put Carly in the mix.”

But even if the jailbreak succeeds, Jason would still pay a massive price — life on the run, hiding from the very agency that could make him permanently disappear.

Path Two: Full Vindication

The second path Burton teased is far more hopeful. Since Jason didn’t actually ѕhооt Cullum — and that’s the entire reason he was arrested — the truth could eventually come out and fully clear his name. “They’re also setting it up, I think, that there could be a resolution,” Burton explained. “Because they know I didn’t ѕhооt Cullum and that’s why I was arrested.”

Burton himself isn’t sure which direction the writers will take, but he sees the potential for both paths to intertwine — Jason forced to go on the run until the truth finally surfaces. As he summed it up: “Whatever story they want to tell, there’s some good story to tell.”
