If someone told you a year ago that Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and Ric Lansing (Rick Hearst) would be plotting revenge together — as allies — you’d have called it insane.
But here we are. And it might be the most dangerous partnership Port Charles has ever seen.
The Offer Sonny Made
It started with a quiet conversation. Sonny told Ric, “If you want to back out, now is the time to say so.”
The target: Jenz Sidwell (Carlo Rota). With Jason Morgan preparing to leave town, Sonny needs someone he can trust to help dismantle Sidwell’s operation. And Ric — for the first time in their complicated history — is saying yes.
SoapDirt reports that Sonny and Ric are “strategizing” their revenge plot during the week of March 16-20. Six sources across CDL, SoapHub, and SoapSpy confirm the partnership, though they disagree on the outcome.
Is It an Alliance or a Betrayal Waiting to Happen?
SoapSpy runs a very different headline: “Sonny Declares War On Ric After Major Betrayal.”
So which is it? Team up or war?
The answer might be both. Sonny and Ric may start as allies against Sidwell — but if Ric is playing his own game (and when has Ric Lansing not played his own game?), the partnership could explode from the inside.
Meanwhile, SoapHub’s Rinse recap for March 17 reveals “Ric’s real reason for working with Sonny.” Whatever that reason is, it’s not simple loyalty.
And Then There’s Carly
While Sonny is plotting with his brother, the internet is asking one burning question: are Sonny and Carly getting back together?
GHTea and GH Blog both published pieces this week suggesting a Sonny-Carly reunion is coming. GHTea calls it “romance rekindled.” GH Blog goes further: “Sonny and Carly’s Last Fling Before She Wears His Ring… AGAIN?”
But here’s the complication: Carly is with Valentin Cassadine right now. And according to the latest LEAK, Valentin and Carly are still together through April. So any Sonny-Carly reunion is at least a month away.
That gives Sonny and Ric time to either destroy Sidwell together — or destroy each other.
The Bottom Line
Sonny is building a war machine. Ric is either his best weapon or his biggest liability. And Carly is caught between Valentin’s intensity and the gravity that always, eventually, pulls her back to Sonny.
This is going to get messy. And we’re just getting started.
